DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) The pharmacokinetics of imidazole 2-hydroxybenzoate [36364-49-5] were studied in healthy volunteers. New methods for the quantitation of imidazole [288-32-4], salicylic acid [69-72-7] and salicyluric acid [487-54-7] in plasma and urine were evaluated. Imidazole metabolites caused considerable methodol. difficulties in plasma and urine. They were below the detectable limit. Salicylic acid metabolites were present in plasma also under the limit of detection (0.5 mg/mL). In urine, the metabolite salicyluric acid was measured in considerable quantities, whereas gentisinic acid [490-79-9] was under the limit of detection. Three healthy volunteers were given a single oral dose of 750 mg imidazole 2-hydroxybenzoate in order to examine the practicability of these new methods as well as to evaluate the pharmacokinetics.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Imidazole 2-hydroxybenzoate (I) [36364-49-5] inhibits human neutrophil functions and interacts with the arachidonic acid [506-32-1] cascade in rats in a different way from that of other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (acetylsalicylic acid and indomethacin). I appears to be a selective inhibitor of thromboxane synthesis.
