Effect of warfarin on the induction and course of experimental endocarditis
Effect of warfarin on the induction and course of experimental endocarditis. Thompson, Jan; Eulderink, Frits; Lemkes, Herman; Van Furth, Ralph (Dep. Infect. Dis., Univ. Hospital Leiden, Leiden, Neth.).There are some reagents with their cas registry numbers 36508-91-5 and 5543-79-3 are used in this study. Infect. Immun., 14(6), 1284-9 (English) 1976. CODEN: INFIBR. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) The effect of (+)- [36508-91-5] and (-)-warfarin Na (I Na) [5543-79-3] treatment on an exptl. endocarditis was studied in rabbits. I had no effect on the induction of a Streptococcus sanguis infection in catheter-induced endocardial vegetations, and the course of this infection was also unaltered. However, I treatment resulted in rapidly progressive bacteremia, probably due to impaired circulation in clearing organs such as the lungs, liver, and spleen. I also reduced the survival time of the infected rabbits, in which pulmonary edema and extensive lung hemorrhages may have been a contributory factor. .
