The curing rate is controlled by changing the amts. of the catalysts. Thus, a mixt. of bisphenol F diglycidyl ether [65581-98-8] 50, Araldite XB 3085 [96351-98-3] (triepoxide based on hydantoin) 50, I 5, and II 1 part was cured 1.6 h at 120° in a mold, demolded, and cured 24 h at 160° to give a molding having flexural strength 113.9 N/mL2, impact strength 12.1 kJ/mm2, and Martens heat delamination temp. 115°.

All derivs. showed the senescence retarding property of retaining starch [9005-25-8]. Benzimidazole and 1-ethylimidazole were the strongest retardants because their starch retention was max. on the 6th day. On the 2nd day, 1-vinylimidazole also gave an outstanding result, followed by 1-methylimidazole, 2-methyl-, 2-ethyl-, and 2-isopropylimidazole. On the 4th day, max. starch was obsd. in the disks treated with benzimidazole and 1-ethylimidazole, whereas the min. was with 2-isopropylimidazole.
