DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) The pharmacol. of an injection prepd. from the herb medicine C. aurantium (dried fruits) was investigated. An injection contained synephrine (I) [94-07-5] and N-methyltyramine (II) [370-98-9] as active ingredients. I.v. administration of the prepn. to dogs increased the blood pressure and the rate of blood circulation in the brain, kidney and coronary artery. In guinea pigs, the prepn. increased the extent of heart contraction, decreased the heart rate and caused changes in electrocardiog. The LD50 value of the prepn. was 71.8 g/kg, for mice after i.v. administration.
