Tritium activity of different tissues in healthy rats and those with joint injuries after a subcutaneous injection of Eleparon-3H
Tritium activity of different tissues in healthy rats and those with joint injuries after a subcutaneous injection of Eleparon-3H. Hofecker, G.; Niedermueller, H.; Niebauer, G.; Eisenmenger, E. (Physiol. Inst., Veterinaermed. Univ. Wien, Vienna, Austria). Zentralbl. Veterinaermed., Reihe A, 24(6), 479-85 (German) 1977. CODEN: ZVRAAX. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) After injection of the therapeutically useful, 3H-labeled polysulfated glycosaminoglycan Eleparon [37187-54-5] s.c. into rats which had degenerative inflammatory changes to the right knee, the highest radioactivity 24 h later was found in the kidney (6%/g) and liver (1%/g), followed by the skin, tibia epiphyses of the healthy and arthritic knee joints, and cornea (0.1%/g each), sinew (0.025%/g), and plasma (0.03%/mL). Total 3H incorporation into the damaged joint was greater than into the contralateral healthy joint, owing to wt. gain of the damaged joint. 3H incorporation into most tissues was somewhat slower in animals with joint damage than in healthy control animals.
Tritium activity in the blood of rats with normal and damaged knee joints after subcutaneous injection of 3H-Eleparon
Tritium activity in the blood of rats with normal and damaged knee joints after subcutaneous injection of 3H-Eleparon. Niedermueller, H.; Niebauer, G.; Hofecker, G. (Physiol. Inst., Veterinarmed. Univ. Wien, Vienna, Austria). Dtsch. Tieraerztl. Wochenschr., 84(5), 187-9 (German) 1977. CODEN: DTTIAF. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Following s.c. injection of 3H-labeled Eleparon [37187-54-5] into rats with exptl. inflammatory degeneration of knee joints radioactivity in the blood increased more rapidly and to a greater extent and then decreased more rapidly than in controls with healthy joints. Apparently joint degeneration alters metab. of glycosaminoglycans leading to more rapid absorption and deposition of them in the tissues. At 6 h after injection blood radioactivity was similar in both groups.
