DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Section cross-reference(s): 24 1-Triacontanol [593-50-0] sprays increased soybean yields. 1-Triacontanol was prepd. by treating 2 mol cyclododecanone [830-13-7] with 4 mol morpholine [110-91-8] in the presence of p-MeC6H4SO3H, sepg. the formed 1-morpholino-1-cyclododecene [3725-39-1], reacting with stearoyl chloride [112-76-5] in presence of Et3N at 0-10°, hydrolyzing under acidic conditions, reacting the formed 2-n-hexadecylcyclotetradecanedione [17874-88-3] with KOH in diethylene glycol, refluxing the mixt. with hydrazine hydrate, distg. till 190-210°, refluxing, cooling, adjusting the mixt. to pH , and reducing the formed 1-triacontanoic acid [506-50-3] with borane-Me sulfide complex to give 1-triacontanol. A spray soln. was prepd. contg. triacontanol 0.0001-1 g/m3 and CaCl2 75 g/m3. The pH of spray soln. was adjusted to 310. Dual sprays of triacontanol in mid-July (20 min interval between sprays) increased significantly the soybean yield.
