Acrylate polymer emulsions prepd. in the presence of the emulsifiers had mech. stability >15 min and viscosity <300 cP. Thus, a 50% aq. mixed sulfosuccinate half ester soln. was prepd. from a mixt. of I 4.70, II 3.65, III 15.21, maleic anhydrid 11.50, Na2SO3 14.95, and H2O 50 parts. The surfactant mixt. produced contained the disodium sulfosuccinate half esters of I 15, II 10, and III 75%. A :31 Et acrylate-N-methylolacrylamide-methyl methacrylate copolymer [25035-74-9] latex prepd. in the presence of 3.0 parts of the surfactant exhibited mech. stability >40 min and viscosity 160 cP.
