DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Aspirin in EtOH was treated with L-arginine in H2O to form aspirin arginine salt (I) [37466-21-0], which was purified and freeze dried. A I injection was prepd. contg. I 0.9 and glycine [56-40-6] (stabilizer) 0.1 g. The free salicylic acid content changed from 0.55% to 0.89% when injections were heated at 50-60% for 16 h. The LD50 value of I was 1460.8 mg/kg in mice after i.v. administration. The analgesic effect of I after i.v. injection was markedly higher than that of aspirin after oral administration. A slight congestion was obsd. at the injection site.
