Mexamine (I) [66-83-1] had the greatest radioprotective activity (XN donor, 0.314); 5-chlorotryptamine [3764-94-1] (XN donor, 0.320) and 5-acetyltryptamine [3551-18-6] (XN donor, 0.322) were also effective. 4-Hydroxytryptamine [570-14-9], 6-hydroxytryptamine [443-31-2], and 7-hydroxytryptamine [15700-23-9] (XN donor, 0.457, 0.469, 0.468, resp.) had no radioprotective effects. .
