DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Mammalian Hormones) The intraocular pressure-elevating potentials of fluorometholone acetate [3801-06-7] ophthalmic suspension and dexamethasone phosphate [312-93-6] ophthalmic soln. were compared in human subjects who were previously documented to respond to dexamethasone Na phosphate. In this double-masked, crossover study, the same eye of each subject was dosed with both steroids, instillation of the 2nd steroid following a 1-mo washout period. The length of time necessary to respond with an increase of 10 mm Hg was ascertained. The mean response time for fluorometholone acetate was 4 wk and for dexamethasone Na phosphate, 3 wk.
