DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 46 (Surface Active Agents and Detergents) The title agent contains at least one of Na2CO3.3/2H2O2 (I), NaBO2.H2O2.3H2O, Na2SO4.1/2H2O2.1/4NaCl, Na4P2O7.2H2O2, and Na3HP2O7.2H2O2 10-90, activator 3-20, and at least one of II [R = H, halo, Me, or MeO; X = S, O, NR1, or C:C; R1 = Me or Et; R2 = hydroxyphenyl or 1-hydroxy-2(3 or 4)-naphthyl; preferably R = H and X = S or C:C] as a blue colorant former 0.005-0.1%. O- or N-acyl activators are preferred. Thus, a 4:1 mixt. of I and (NaPO3)6 and a mixt. of glucose pentaacetate (III) [3891-59-6] activator 30, CM-cellulose 20, corn starch 10, polyethylene glycol (mol. wt. 6000) 20, and II (R = H, X = S, R1 = Me, R2 = 2-hydroxyphenyl) [28345-24-6] 0.008%, and Glauber salt balance, were mixed in 1:1 ratio. When cloth stained with red tea was soaked in a 0.5% aq. soln. of this compn. at 40° for 5 h, washed with tap water, and pressed, the result was considered satisfactory by 29 of 50 observers, vs. 11 when III was replaced by K dichloroisocyanurate.

Effects of radiation doses, II concn., and related parameters were studied and compared with that of the homopolymn. of I. The yield of copolymer (III) [94291-15-3] was lower than homopolymer and only a fraction of the II taken entered into the polymer. Chem. properties of III were detd.; after amine treatment III showed good thermal stability. The kinetics of this copolymn. were similar to those of I homopolymn.
