Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs which exert an inhibitory effect on mitochondrial reactions
Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs which exert an inhibitory effect on mitochondrial reactions. Shiojiri, Hiroshi; Kawai, K.; Nozawa, Y.; Nozaki, M.; Tsurumi, K.; Fujimura, H. (Tsukuba Res. Lab., Eisai Co. Ltd., Tsukuba 300-26, Japan). Drugs Exp. Clin. Res., 10(12), 857-62 (English) 1984. CODEN: DECRDP. ISSN: 0378-6501. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) In isolated rat liver mitochondria, indomethacin [53-86-1] uncoupled oxidative phosphorylation and depressed state 3 respiration. However, a farnesyl ester of indomethacin E-0710 [70896-44-5], exhibited neither uncoupling nor inhibitory effects on mitochondrial respiration. Clidanac [34148-01-1], benoxaprofen [51234-28-7], GP-53633 [40061-07-2], and tioxaprofen [40198-53-6] also uncoupled oxidative phosphorylation. The uncoupling effect of clidanac and tioxaprofen was far stronger than that of indomethacin. The uncoupling effects of these compds. were characterized by a secondary effect due to a marked suppression of state 3 respiration.
