DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 22 (Physical Organic Chemistry) The Arrhenius equation for the ring-opening isomerization of cyclopropylmethyl radical (I) to 3-buten-1-yl radical (II) at 303-362 K was detd. by the anal. of cyclopropylmethyl 1-hydroxy-1-methylethyl diazene in the presence of excess 1,1,3,3-tetramethylisoindolin-2-yloxyl (III). Rate consts. for the coupling of I with III were assumed to be proportional to diffusion-controlled rate consts. (kd) and rate consts. (ki) for the isomerization were calcd. from cor. kd and the ratio of the coupling products of I with III to those for II with III. The temp. dependence of ki detd. in this study is significantly different from that detd. by ESR at 128-153 K. .
