The tortillas were individually packaged in polyethylene bags, stored at room temp., and obsd. daily for visible signs of mold growth. Samples from each batch were also subjected to the detn. of moisture and water activity. The mold-free shelf-lives of tortillas contg. calcium propionate ranged 2-5 days and those of tortillas contg. di-Me fumarate ranged 2-11 days.

Thus, a mixt. of cocodimethylamine propionate 40, Cu NH3 propionate plus Ca propionate [4075-81-4] 45, and dodecylbenzyltrimethylammonium chloride [1330-85-4] 15% was effective against Coniophora puteana and Coriolus versicolor without leaching and showed no loss of activity after leaching; this mixt. compared favorably with conventional wood preservatives and was ~3 times more effective than Cu naphthenate.
