The various ratios of the modifier (THF and I) to the initiator (n-BuLi) influence the copolymn. rate and compn. of copolymers. This polymn. system is a complex one; there are multiple active species. By adjusting the ratio of K to Li and the ratio of THF to Li, copolymers with compns. almost identical to the ratio of initial monomers at different stages of conversion are obtained. The mean sequence length in the rubbers chain was also detd. The microstructure of the rubbers were sharply influenced by various ratios of modifier (THF, I) to initiator (BuLi). By selecting a proper K/Li and THF/Li ratio, the rubbers with unique randomness, having compn. almost identical to the initial monomer ratio at different stages of conversion and very low vinyl content, were obtained. The formation mechanism of the copolymer chain structure was discussed. .
