- Photochemical stability of ciclopirox olamine. Sano, Akimitsu; Matsubara, Kazutaka; Suzuki, Nobuo (Dev. Lab., Hoechst Japan Ltd., Japan). Yakuzaigaku, 37(3), 164-7 (Japanese) 1977. CODEN: YAKUA2. ISSN: 0372-7629. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 22 The photostability of a new antimycotic agent ciclopirox olamine (I) [41621-49-2] was investigated in several solvents. The main decompn. product was 6-cyclohexyl-4-methyl-2(1H)-pyridone [67587-24-0]. Photodegrdn. proceeded as a pseudo 1st-order reaction. The photodegrdn. was slower in propylene glycol [57-55-6] or macrogol 400 [9002-90-8] than in EtOH [64-17-5] or iso-PrOH [67-63-0]. When stored in light-resistant ampuls, I was quite stable.

- Physicochemical properties and stability of a 6-cyclohexyl-1-hydroxy-4-methyl-2(1H)-pyridoneethanolamine salt, cyclopiroxolamine. Kuriki, Takeo; Matsubara, Kazutaka; Tsujiyama, Tsuyoshi; Sano, Akimitsu; Suzuki, Nobuo (Dev. Lab., Hoechst Japan Ltd., Tokyo, Japan). Iyakuhin Kenkyu, 8(4), 548-59 (Japanese) 1977. CODEN: IYKEDH. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) The antimycotic drug cyclopiroxolamine (I) [41621-49-2] was stable to heat, moisture and light when the drug was stored in an air-tight container. I in macrogol 400 solns. was also stable at 5° and 76% relative humidity or at 30° and 75% relative humidity for 18 mo. The color of I changed from colorless to light yellow when I was directly exposed to sun light for 1 day. However, the color of I in macrogol 400 solns. remained unchanged even after being exposed to sun light for 2 days. I was highly sol. in MeOH, EtOH, CHCl3, and HOAc, moderately sol. in H2O, microgol 400 and DMF, but hardly sol. in ether. The max. UV absorption of I in MeOH was at 230 nm. Other spectrophotometric properties are also presented.
