I was extd. from plasma or hydrolyzed urine with Et2O. The compd. was dissolved in n-hexane and injected on to a gas chromatog. column packed with 4% SE-30 on Gas-chrom Q, 80-100 mesh with N as the carrier gas at 230°. An electron-capture detector was used. A calibration curve was made for I concns. in plasma and urine between 100 ng and 6 mg. It was possible to detect 10 ng I/mL in biol. fluids. The free fraction of I in urine was estd. to be 1-2%. The clearance of I from blood plasma and I urinary excretion were detd. in a normal volunteer receiving lipanthyl (procetophen) [49562-28-9].
