Mutagenic activity of 5 thiazole compounds in the Salmonella/microsome and mouse lymphoma TK+/- assays
Mutagenic activity of 5 thiazole compounds in the Salmonella/microsome and mouse lymphoma TK+/- assays. Cameron, T. P.; Hughes, T. J.; Kirby, P. E.; Palmer, K. A.; Fung, V. A.; Dunkel, V. C. (Natl. Cancer Inst., Bethesda, MD 20205, USA). Mutat. Res., 155(1-2), 17-25 (English) 1985. CODEN: MUREAV. ISSN: 0027-5107. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) To aid in the selection of chem. candidates for in vivo tests, the mutagenicity of 5 thiazole compds. was evaluated in the Salmonella plate incorporation assay and mouse lymphoma L5178Y TK+/- assay. Two of the compds., 2-thiazolamine [96-50-4] and 3-methyl-5-isothiazolamine [24340-76-9], were pos. in both assays; and one, thiazole [288-47-1], was neg. With the other 2 compds. the results were nonconcordant: 5-phenyl-2,4-thiazolediamine (I) [490-55-1] was neg. in the Salmonella assay but pos. in the mouse lymphoma assay, and C.I. Basic Red 29 [42373-04-6] was pos. in the Salmonella assay whereas the response in the mouse lymphoma assay was considered equivocal.
Decolorization performance of cationic dyes with different molecular structures by aerobic activated sludge
All Rights Reserved. Decolorization performance of cationic dyes with different molecular structures by aerobic activated sludge. Liu, Zhengqin; Xi, Danli; Li, Yue (Donghua University, Shanghai 200051, Peop. Rep. China). Huanjing Gongcheng, 23(3), 24-26 (Chinese) 2005 Huanjing Gongcheng Bianjibu. CODEN: HGONEU. ISSN: 1000-8942. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 60 (Waste Treatment and Disposal) Section cross-reference(s): 41 A dynamic observation about the effect of aerobic activated sludge on the bio-decolorization of five kinds of cationic dye with different structures and a study on the influence of the sludge on decolorizing results in different acetic acid concns. has been conducted. The result indicates that under aerobic conditions, the activated sludge is highly effective in the decolorization of cationic dye, with the decolorizing rate of cationic red GTL and cationic cobalt blue 2RL (concn. 20mg/L) reaching 93% and 98% resp.Several substances with their cas registry numbers 42373-04-6 and 14254-17-2 may be metioned in this study. Increasing sludge concn. has no significant influence on the dye decolorizing rate. The change of acetic acid (200-1200mg/L) and dyestuff (20-100mg/L) concns. has also little effect on the decolorizing rate of cationic red 2GL, cationic red GTL, cationic cobalt blue 2RL and basic green dye. This reveals that the bio-decolorization of some kinds of cationic dyes is caused by the joint action of adsorption and subsequent biodegrdn. The increase of decolorizing rate of cationic red 6B with the increase of acetic acid concn. is caused by the generation of metab. jointly with acetic acid. .
