The duration of their stay in a small dark space and in a large illuminated space was detd. in 3-min intervals. After an elec. shock in the small space, the duration of stay of each rat was followed for 3 min in the course of 14 days. The statistical evaluation of the duration of the stay of exptl. and of control rats revealed that the differences in the duration of stay in the large space were incidental and the dye under study does not affect the memory of rats.

The coloristic properties of all dyes were directly related to their tautomerism. The long-wave p-electron transition accompanied by intramol. charge transfer in opposite directions for resp. azo and hydrazone tautomers was proven by quantum chem. calcns.
