DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) The antiinflammatory drug proquazone (I) [22760-18-5] had no influence on the degree of hypocoagulability in patients anticoagulated with phenprocoumone (II) [435-97-2]. Administration of I for 2 weeks did not statistically affect the Quick percent, coagulation factors II, VII, and X, or the platelet aggregation induced by collagen or epinephrine. Many antiinflammatory agents decreased the blood clotting ability of patients receiving oral anticoagulants to below therapeutic levels, resulting in increased bleeding and(or) hemorrhagic tendencies.

For I compds., 4 solvent systems were satisfactory for sepn. (e.g. AcOBu-BuOH); for II sepn., 6 solvent systems worked (e.g., .5 CHCl3-Me2CO). Mixts. of I and II coud not be sepd. by any of the solvent systems tried, however, I solns. are colorless and II solns. colored, hence an appropriate developing solvent could be applied as thus indicated.
