Effects of sex hormones on the formation of cholestatic factors
Effects of sex hormones on the formation of cholestatic factors. Sakagami, Yoshihide; Miyajima, Keiji; Mizoguchi, Yasuhiro; Ikemoto, Yoshihiro; Sawai, Hiroko; Arai, Takayuki; Fukui, Michiru; Higashimori, Toshihiro; Tsutsui, Hiroko (Med. Sch., Osaka City Univ., Osaka, Japan). Dig. Organ Immunol., 12, 166-9 (Japanese) 1984. CODEN: DOIMD8. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Mammalian Hormones) A lymph cell suspension prepd. from sensitized guinea pigs as described perviously (1982) was incubated with tuberculin (PPD) (5 or 10 mg/mL) for 24 h, followed by incubation with conjugated estrogens (Na estrone sulfate [438-67-5] and Na equilin sulfate [16680-47-0]) with or without testosterone [58-22-0]. The supernatant obtained after centrifugation was injected i.v. into male rats to det. its effect on the bile acid secretion. Results indicated that sex hormones affected the formation of cholestatic factor. Estrogens in combination with a lower concn. of PPD (5 mg/mL), but not a higher concn. of PPD (10 mg/mL), markedly enhanced the formation of cholestatic factor induced by activated T lymphocyte. Testosterone antagonized the effect of estrogens.
Effect of estrogens on the response of isolated hepatic arteries to noradrenaline in the presence of pyrogallol
Effect of estrogens on the response of isolated hepatic arteries to noradrenaline in the presence of pyrogallol. Bettini, V.; Aragno, R.; Legrenzi, E.; Zanin, P. (Ist. Fisiol. Umana, Univ. Padova, Padua, Italy). Boll. Soc. Ital. Biol. Sper., 54(4), 310-14 (Italian) 1978. CODEN: BSIBAC. ISSN: 0037-8771. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Hormone Pharmacology) In calf hepatic artery prepns., noradrenaline L-tartrate (II) [51-40-1] induced contractions which were increased both in magnitude and duration in the presence of estrone Na sulfate (I Na sulfate) [438-67-5] (15, 30, 45 mg/mL). This effect of I was slightly reduced in the presence of pyrogallol (III) [87-66-1] (10 mg/mL), whereas at 30 mg III/mL the enhancing of I on the effects of II was not obsd. The results are discussed with respect to the hypothesis that the enhancing effect of I on the actions of II is due to inhibition of enzymes which degrade catecholamines.
