- Extraction of phenol from wastewater by extractive fractionation. Popov, N. (Nauchno-Issled.In this study, 126-33-0 and 108-95-2 are also used. Inst. Neftekhim. Neftepererab., Burgas, Bulg.). Khim. Tekhnol. Vody, 6(1), 56-8 (Russian) 1984. CODEN: KTVODL. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 60 (Waste Treatment and Disposal) PhOH [108-95-2] was removed from wastewaters by extractive fractionation using diethylene glycol (I) [111-46-6], N-formylmorpholine [4394-85-8], tetraethyleneglycol [112-60-7], and tetramethylenesulfone (II) [126-33-0] as solvents. Studies of the effect of extg. solvent concn. on the distribution of PhOH between water and solvent and the relative volatility coeff. between water and PhOH indicated that II gave the highest coeffs. and therefore the greates removals. In a lab.-scale fractionation column, water vapor contg. 0.001 and 0.00515% PhOH was obtained with II and I, resp. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 51 (Fossil Fuels, Derivatives, and Related Products) Section cross-reference(s): 25 The use of aq. systems for regeneration of N-methylpyrrolidone [872-50-4] and N-formylmorpholine [4394-85-8], used in extractive sepn. of thiophene [110-02-1] from C6H6 [71-43-2] obtained from coking, is preferable to use of nonaq. systems. Polymer formation is not a serious problem.
