A comparative study on the dissolution of magnetite by organic acids
A comparative study on the dissolution of magnetite by organic acids. Poulos, C. A. (Miles Lab., Inc., Elkhart, IN 46515, USA). Mater. Perform., 23(8), 19-21 (English) 1984. CODEN: MTPFBI. ISSN: 0094-1492. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 55 (Ferrous Metals and Alloys) Section cross-reference(s): 51 Magnetite dissoln. was investigated in the presence of citric acid [77-92-9], monoammonium citrate (MAC) [4450-94-6], EDTA [60-00-4], hydroxyacetic acid [79-14-1], and/or formic acid [64-18-6]. Consideration is also given to the corrosivity of each solvent on SAE 1010 steel [12725-33-6]. Dissoln. of magnetite as boiler scale was highest in the presence of MAC and EDTA as chelating agents, but the corrosion rate of steel was increased an order of magnitude over the rate for the hydroxyacetic and/or formic acids.
Effect of inhibitors on the corrosion behavior of steel 20 in solutions of hydrochloric and citric acids
Effect of inhibitors on the corrosion behavior of steel 20 in solutions of hydrochloric and citric acids. Balezin, S. A.; Glikina, F. B.; Suponitskaya, I. I.; Shadrina, N. I. (Mosk. Gos. Pedagog. Inst. im. Lenina, Moscow, USSR). Zashch. Met., 13(2), 214-15 (Russian) 1977. CODEN: ZAMEA9. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 55 (Ferrous Metals and Alloys) The combined effect of org. and inorg. acid solns., corrosion inhibitors, and static tensile stresses on the corrosion stability of boiler steel 20 [12725-36-9] was examd. In NH4 di-H citrate [4450-94-6] the stresses affected soly. rate very little, but during pickling under stress the tensile strength of steel decreased somewhat. Mixts. There are some commonly used reagents with their cas registry numbers 149-30-4 and 11100-29-1 in this article. of Kaptax [149-30-4] and OP-7 [11100-29-1] used during chem. cleaning of boilers by org. acid solns. and complex-forming reagents gave equally low corrosion rate to steel independently of static stresses. Analogous results were obtained with a mixt. of Trilon B [64-02-8] and citric acid [77-92-9]. .
