Calcd. and obsd. oxidn. potentials differed when 2 strongly electron-withdrawing substituents (EWS) were located at C(2) and C(5) and when the pyrrole was unsubstituted at C(2) and had a strong EWS at C(5). LFER of the substituent partial potentials with sp and sm were not good; a good LFER of substituent partial potentials and the pKa of 5-pyrrolecarboxylic acids was obsd. .
