DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 40 (Textiles and Fibers) Section cross-reference(s): 60 Ultrasonic degrdn. at 300 kHz of basic azo and reactive anthraquinone dyes was investigated in dyebath wastewater at acidic and near-acidic pH. For all conditions, it was found that color decay was exponential, leveling off at a non-zero plateau and slowing down with increased acidity. It was also found that the bleaching rate of a dyebath was more sensitive to the dye structure than to the dyebath matrix. The rate of azo dye bleaching was slower than that of anthraquinone dyes at both test pH levels regardless of the unfavorable conditions in the latter dyebath against oxidn. by hydroxyl radicals. The addn. of hydrogen peroxide to the dyebaths rendered a slight enhancement in the degree of color decay and a significant increase in the overall degrdn. of the dyestuff. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 79 (Inorganic Analytical Chemistry) Au(III), 0.5-40 .mu.g, was detd. photometrically by reaction with aq. soln. of Janus Blue (I) in 4N HCl to form the complex RAuX4 (where R is cation of I and X = Cl or other halogen). The complex was extd. into 2:1 C6H6-Me2CO and the absorbance was measured at 582 nm. Beer's law was obeyed for 0.5-37 .mu.g Au(III)/5-7 mL. Te(IV), Se(IV), Tl(III), Hg(II), Ga(III), Fe(III), Sb(III), and thiourea interfered. The method was used to det. Au in rocks after the sample was dissolved in aqua regia and the SiO2 ppt. was filtered off.Except for chemicals metioned above, 7440-57-5 and 4569-88-4 are also used. .
