False-positive EMIT indication of opiates and methadone in a doxylamine intoxication
False-positive EMIT indication of opiates and methadone in a doxylamine intoxication. Hausmann, E.; Kohl, B.; Von Boehmer, H.; Wellhoener, Hans H. (Abt. Toxikol., Med. Hochsch. Hannover, Hannover D-3000/61, Fed. Rep. Ger.). J. Clin. Chem. Clin. Biochem., 21(10), 599-600 (English) 1983. CODEN: JCCBDT. ISSN: 0340-076X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) The EMIT-dau for methadone [76-99-3] and the EMIT-ST for opiates (both EMITs from Syva-Merck) gave false-pos. 562-10-7 and 76-99-3 which are cas registry numbers of substances are two of reagents here. results when applied to urine samples of a patient suffering from a moderate doxylamine [469-21-6] intoxication. The error was not detected in routine TLC. Gas chromatog. and mass spectrometry unequivocally indicated the presence in urine and plasma of doxylamine and its metabolites and the definite absence of methadone. Opiates could not be detected with the Abuscreen RIA (Roche), which is a more sensitive method than EMIT-ST. .
Percutaneous absorption of diphenhydramine and doxylamine, two antihistamines with local anesthetic effects
Percutaneous absorption of diphenhydramine and doxylamine, two antihistamines with local anesthetic effects. Some chemicals with cas registry numbers like 544-76-3 and 147-24-0 are also used. Ziegenmeyer, Jochen; Meyer, Friedrich (Inst. Pharmakol. Toxikol., Tech. Univ. Carolo-Wilhelmina, Braunschweig, Ger.). Arch. Pharm. (Weinheim, Ger.), 310(1), 9-15 (German) 1977. CODEN: ARPMAS. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) The percutaneous absorption of diphenhydramine [58-73-1] and doxylamine (I) [469-21-6] by guinea pigs was increased by the penetration-enhancing agents cyclohexane [110-82-7], hexadecane [544-76-3], and dimethyl sulfoxide [67-68-5]. Diphenhydramine influenced the local pain threshold for receptive elec. stimuli more significantly than did I, and both the intensity and duration of the anesthetic effects were influenced by the choice of penetrating agent. The local anesthetic activities were stronger with the free bases than with diphenhydramine-HCl [147-24-0] or doxylamine succinate [562-10-7]. .
