Chinese medicine, Anchusan, and the breath freshener, Jintan, were examd. against Anisakis. Anchusan (powder) and Jintan were very effective in stopping the motion of the nematode larvae, while Anchusan (water ext.) was less effective. Among the components of crude drugs of Anchusan and Jintan, Cinnamomi Cortex, Caryo-phylli Flos, saussureae Radix, Zingiberis Rhizoma, Amomi Semen and Alpiniae Rhizoma showed strong inhibiting effect on the movement of nematode larvae. Larvicidal principles in Saussurea Radix were obtained from the EtOAc ext. The compds. were identified by the phys. property and the spectral data as dehydrocostus lactone and costunolide.
