Tires contg. arom. furazan oxides show lower running temps. and improved rolling resistance. Thus, a natural rubber tire belt skim formulation contg. ZnO 5, stearic acid 2, carbon black 40, and I or 6-methylbenzofurazan oxide (II) [3524-05-8] 1 part/100 parts rubber was mixed for 5 min and dropped at 143°. I- and II-contg. tire belt skim formulations had Mooney viscosity 24-28, peak green strength 300-340, and elongation 650-670%, compared with 41, 135, and 810, resp., for a control contg. no I or II. .
