DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Foods) Section cross-reference(s): 5 Two general procedures involving chromatog. and colorimetry are outlined for detn. of pyrethroid derivs. of chrysanthemic acid [10453-89-1] on wheat, wheat milling fractions, polished rice, corn, sorghum, oats and barley. Although limits of detection ranged upwards from 0.02 .mu.g, residues in the range 0.1-4 ppm were readily detd. with inexpensive equipment after suitable clean-up procedures. Wheat treated some months before anal. with bioresmethrin [28434-01-7] was analyzed by the 2 general procedures for derivs. of chrysanthemic acid, and also by 2 procedures specific for detn. of bioresmethrin. Results from all 4 procedures were comparable. One of the procedures for identification of chrysanthemic acid also enabled identification of pyrethroid derivs. of chrysanthemumdicarboxylic acid [497-95-0] and 3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid [55701-05-8]. Thus, a wide range of commodities can be screened for the presence of com. pyrethroids. In addn., anal. studies on individual pyrethroids can be performed by use of a general method. .
