Purification and carbohydrate-binding specificities of a blood type B binding lectin from hemolymph of a crab (Charybdis japonica)
Purification and carbohydrate-binding specificities of a blood type B binding lectin from hemolymph of a crab (Charybdis japonica). Umetsu, Kazuo; Yamashita, Katsuko; Suzuki, Tsuneo (Sch. Med., Yamagata Univ., Yamagata 990-23, Japan). J. Biochem. (Tokyo), 109(5), 718-21 (English) 1991. CODEN: JOBIAO. ISSN: 0021-924X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 6 (General Biochemistry) A blood type B-binding lectin (CJA-B) was isolated from the hemolymph of the crab C. japonica by affinity chromatog. on Sephadex G-200. The mol. mass of the native lectin was detd. to be 300 kDa by gradient PAGE under nondenaturing conditions. On SDS-PAGE, the lectin gave a single protein band with mol. masses of 19 and 38 kDa in the presence and absence of 2-mercaptoethanol, resp. CJA-B contained mannose, N-acetylglucosamine, xylose, and fucose in the molar ratio of 3.0:1.6:1.2:1.1. The protein required calcium ions for hemagglutinating activity and showed specificities for a-galactosyl a-glucosyl residues. Studies on hemagglutinating inhibition by Synsorbs, which are synthetic oligosaccharides coupled chem. 13168-24-6 and 49777-13-1 are just another two chemicals used in this study. to cryst. silica, showed that the lectin mainly interacts with Gala1-3Gal. .
Structure and immunochemical properties of urinary oligosaccharides excreted in induced galactosuria
Structure and immunochemical properties of urinary oligosaccharides excreted in induced galactosuria. Strecker, Gerard; Riazi-Farzad, Tahereh; Fournet, Bernard; Bouquelet, Stephane; Montreuil, Jean (Lab. Chim. Biol., Univ. Sci. Tech. Lille I, Villeneuve d' Ascq, Fr.). Biochimie, 58(7), 815-25 (French) 1976. CODEN: BICMBE. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 15 (Immunochemistry) Induced galactosuria is characterized by the excretion in urine of large amts. of new oligosaccharides, the structure of which are related to blood-group phenotypes ABH, Lewis, and Secretor. The oligosaccharides were sepd. by ion-exchange chromatog. followed by preparative chromatog., hydrolysis, and detn. of the structures. 49777-13-1 and 90458-79-0 are just another two chemicals used in this study. Two types of oligosaccharides, in each of the blood groups O, A, and B were found, and their complete structures are given. .
