Under the best modifying condition, modified bentonite adsorbent with strong adsorption ability could be obtained. This adsorbent also could be support for catalyst and water treatment agent. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 60 (Waste Treatment and Disposal) Section cross-reference(s): 40, 41 In the removal of dyes from dyeing process wastewater by adsorption with chitosan [9012-76-4], the time required to reach equil. increased as the concn. of Direct Red 31 (I) [5001-72-9] was increased, whereas Reactive Red (II) [57974-10-4] did not show such a trend. The activation energies for the adsorption of I and II were 2.59 and 5.78 kcal/mol, resp. Since the adsorption rate of both dyes increase with a decrease in temp., mol. orientation or intermol. ionic interactions can be responsible for the large increase in activation energy when passing from one dye system to the other. The adsorption kinetics of the dyes were affected significantly by the chitosan particle size. .
