DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 54 (Extractive Metallurgy) Mass-balance equations for the species present in the galena [12179-39-4]-Et xanthate system were derived in terms of the equil. consts., and were solved to det. the concns. of dissolved species and the wt. of the solids present at a given pH. Computations were carried out for K Et xanthate [140-89-6] addns. of 0, 10-7, 10-6, 10-5, and 10-4 mol/L. The results were used to generate: (1) plots of the equil. concn. of the various dissolved species as a function of pH at a given Eh; (2) Eh-pH stability diagrams for each xanthate addn.; and (3) plots of the amts. of Pb xanthate [20936-29-2] and/or dixanthogen [502-55-6] formed as functions of Eh and pH. The results were used to explain quant. the anodic dissoln. of galena in acidic conditions. .

(at 0.1% concn.) for 30 min increased the content of dixanthogen (II) [502-55-6] to 21.4%, whereas the latter in the solns. subjected to electrochem. treatment only was 11%. The chemisorption of I and products of its oxidn. by the galena surface from solns. electrochem. treated in an ultrasound field was much higher than from electrochem.-treated solns. An increase in the sorption of the collector on sphalerite [12169-28-7], galena [12179-39-4] and chalcopyrite [1308-56-1] increased their floatability. A characteristic I-II ratio. at which the flotation yield of a given mineral was max., existed for each of them. Thus, the highest recovery into a froth product for galena (75.3%) was obsd. at a II content in the soln. of 8. 1308-56-1 and 871-58-9 are just another two chemicals used in this study.2%, whereas 74.8% of chalcopyrite was recovered at II = 20.8%. .
