- The reaction of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate with hydrazino compounds: a spectrophotometric study. Castagne, I.; Fourche, J.; Jensen, H.; Neuzil, E. (Lab. Biochim. Med., Univ. Bordeaux II, Bordeaux 33076, Fr.). Biochem. Soc. Trans., 15(1), 142-3 (English) 1987. CODEN: BCSTB5. ISSN: 0300-5127. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Section cross-reference(s): 1, 23 The reaction of hydrazine [302-01-2] with pyridoxal 5'-phosphate [54-47-7], as monitored by UV spectroscopy, was pH pos. A higher reaction rate was obsd. at pH 7.5. Pyridoxal [66-72-8] was much less reactive than pyridoxal 5'-phosphate toward hydrazine. The reaction of methylhydrazine [60-34-4], ethylhydrazine [624-80-6], propylhydrazine [5039-61-2], and butylhydrazine [3530-11-8] with pyridoxal 5'-phosphate paralleled the reaction of the unsubstituted parent; however, the reaction rates of the substituted hydrazines were slower than the rate of hydrazine. In this experiment, several chemicals are used like 74-89-5 and 56-40-6 N,N'-Dimethylhydrazine [540-73-8] and N,N'-diisopropylhydrazine [3711-34-0] did not react with pyridoxal 5'-phosphate. Semicarbazide [57-56-7], benzhydrazide [613-94-5], and isoniazid [54-85-3] showed a high reaction rate with pyridoxal 5'-phosphate. .
