- Electroantennogram responses of Spodoptera litura (F.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) male moth to two female sex pheromone components. Kawaski, Kenjiro (Div. Entomol., Natl. Inst. Agro-Environ. Sci., Tsukuba 305, Japan). Appl. Entomol. Zool., 20(1), 82-7 (English) 1985. CODEN: APEZAW. ISSN: 0003-6862. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Electroantennogram (EAG) responses of the S. litura male to female sex pheromone components, (Z,E)-9,11-tetradecadienyl acetate (I) [50767-79-8] and (Z,E)-9,12-tetradecadienyl acetate (II) [30507-70-1] were recorded. The amplitude of the EAG responses decreased in order: I+II mixt. [60799-74-8] (9:1) 3 I > II. No increase in response was obsd. when the mixt. ratio of the compds. was changed. In adaptation expts., continuous exposure of an antenna to air contg. I strongly suppressed the subsequent EAG response to both compds. I and II. Air contg. II similarly suppressed the EAG response to II, though the responsiveness to I was only partially suppressed.

Rech., Inst. Natl. Rech. Agron., Bordeaux, Fr.). C. R. Reun. Pheromones Sex. Lepid., 163-9. I. N. R. A. Cent. Rech. Bordeaux: Pont de la Maye, Fr. (French) 1976. CODEN: 37FHA2. DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 17 (Foods) The use of ZETA (cis-9,trans-12-tetradecadien-1-yl-acetate) [50767-79-8] as an oil in trapping P. interpunctella males in stored prunes was not very effective at £400 mg/m3. Max. decrease in the no. of matings of the moths was 31.6%, but some tests actually led to increased nos. of matings. Therefore, this synthetic pheromone has limited use in trapping these moths, at least at the dosages used.
