DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 11 A. turkestanica showed highest biol. activity during flowering and fruit formation (80-150 frog units). Circadial activity cycle had max. at 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., and a min. at 2 a.m. The cardenolide const. was highest in undergroun organs, green fruits, and upper leaves. The main glycosides were cymarin [508-77-0] and k-strophanthin-.beta. [560-53-2]. The plants contained 0.5-1.0% flavonoids, 0.01-0.02% coumarins, 0.8-1.2% org. acids, 6.8-8.2% amino acids, 1.3-1.79% reducing sugars (glucose [50-99-7], rhamnose [3615-41-6], arabinose [147-81-9], and 2 unidentified), 0.4-0.51% lipids, 3.1-3.3% resins, 3-5.5% adonitol [488-81-3], 2.7-3.0% carbohydrates, 0.77% salicylic acid [69-72-7], 0.2% tartaric acid [87-69-4], 0.08% citric acid [77-92-9], 0.02% oxalic acid [144-62-7], and 0.08% lactic acid [50-21-5]. Orientin [28608-75-5], homoorientin [39319-16-9], adonivernite [22150-36-3], and luteolin [491-70-3] were found.
