C., USA). J. Assoc. Off. Anal. Chem., 61(1), 72-5 (English) 1978. CODEN: JANCA2. ISSN: 0004-5756. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Std. ref. samples of diatrizoic acid (I) [117-96-4] gave 2 different IR spectra, x-ray diffraction patterns, and differential thermal and thermal gravimetric curves. One form, the anhyd. acid, showed no wt. loss when heated to 170°C. The other form, the dihydrate [50978-11-5], lost 5.36% of its wt. when heated from 86 to 144°C. The anhyd. I is the preferred ref. std., because it has an IR spectrum and x-ray diffraction pattern suitable for identification purposes.
