- Preemergence herbicides for container-grown citrus. Singh, Megh; Tucker, D. P. H. (IFAS, Univ. Florida, Lake Alfred, FL 33850, USA). HortScience, 18(6, Sect. 1), 950-2 (English) 1983. CODEN: HJHSAR. ISSN: 0018-5345. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Sweet orange (Citrus sinensis cultivar Hamlin) nursery trees on Carrizo citrange (C. sinensis ′ Poncirus trifoliata) and on Milam (C. jambhiri hybrid) rootstocks were potted in synthetic mix (sand-peat-wood shavings, 1:1:1 by vol.) and grove soil (Astatula fine sand). Treatments included high and low rates of the preemergent herbicides trifluralin [1582-09-8], napropamide [15299-99-7], oxyfluorfen [42874-03-3], metolachlor [51218-45-2], oryzalin [19044-88-3], alachlor [15972-60-8], and oxadiazon [19666-30-9]. Initial herbicide treatments were repeated 3 addnl. times at 90-day intervals. All herbicide treatments significantly reduced the total no. and fresh wt. of weeds. High rates were consistently more effective than low rates. No treatment resulted in any visual foliar phytotoxicity, although alachlor and metolachlor significantly reduced the root vigor of both Carrizo and Milam.

- Investigations on the residual pesticide content in soils of Bulgaria. Balinov, I.; Balinova, A. (Inst. In this study, 1582-09-8 and 50-29-3 are also used. Plant Prot., Kostinbrod, Bulg.). Rastenievud. Nauki, 20(5), 11-16 (Bulgarian) 1983. CODEN: RSTNA7. ISSN: 0568-465X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Section cross-reference(s): 19 Barley and wheat seedings in Bulgaria were most frequently polluted with atrazine [1912-24-9] (69.9% of samples, including 4.3% of samples contg. >0.1 mg atrazine/kg soil) and trifluralin [1582-09-8] (68.9% of samples). Simazine [122-34-9] and prometryn [7287-19-6] were found in 12 and 20.9% of samples, resp., at £0.2 mg/kg soil. Alachlor [15972-60-8] occurred in 33% of samples at <0.1 mg/kg, and metolachlor [51218-45-2] was found at <0.01 mg/kg. The residues of lindane [58-89-9], heptachlor [76-44-8], and heptachlor epoxide [1024-57-3] ranged from trace amts. to 0.14 mg/kg soil, mainly in orchards, where also Bayleton [43121-43-3] occurred from trace amts. to 0.2 mg/kg. The residues of p,p'-DDT [50-29-3], o,p'-DDT [789-02-6], and DDE [72-55-9] progressively decreased and ranged from trace amts. to 0.6 mg/kg. .
