DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) Among a large no. of preemergence herbicides tested against the bromacil [314-40-9]-tolerant weeds, Panicum maximum and Paspalum dilatatum in pineapples, preplant application of Velpar (I) [51235-04-2] at 3.6 and 5.4 kg/ha was the most effective and with no phytotoxicity to the crop. Bromacil at 4.0, karbutilate [4849-32-5] at 8.0, and bromacil-diuron mixt. [8071-35-0] at 2.4 each kg/ha controlled P. dilatatum for 2 months after treatment. Metribuzin [21087-64-9] at 4.2 kg/ha was effective against P. maximum and broad-leaved weeds.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) In weed control studies in radiata pine (Pinus radiata) with DPX 3674 [51235-04-2], alone or in combination with other herbicides, for control of grasses, bracken (Pteridium aquilinum esculentum), wattle (Acacia decurrens), gorse, and broom (Cytisus scoparius), I (1.8 kg/hr) gave excellent control of brown top (Agrostis tenuis) and cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata) for .ltoreq.12 months. Yorkshire fog (Holcus lanatus) was satisfactorily controlled by 3.6 kg I/ha for .ltoreq.8 months. I (5.4 kg/ha) or I (3.6 kg/ha) plus diesel oil (sprayed at 20 L/ha) gave excellent bracken control .ltoreq.12 months. Broom was controlled for .ltoreq.16 months by I (10.8 kg/ha) or a I-picloram mixt. [64664-45-5] (3.6 and 0.25 kg/ha, resp.).
