- Weed control in citrus groves. II. Screening of herbicides for citrus groves. Suzuki, Kunihiko; Hirose, Kazuyoshi; Kawase, Kenji (Okitsu Branch, Fruit Tree Exp. Stn., Shimizu 424-02, Japan). 74051-80-2 and 1071-83-6 are also occured in this study. Kaju Shikenjo Hokoku, B, (13), 11-54 (Japanese) 1986. CODEN: KSHOA9. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Herbicidal formulations were tested for their effectiveness in citrus groves and for their phytotoxicity to citrus trees. Liq. formulations of glyphosate (I) [1071-83-6], bialaphos (II) [35597-43-4], glufosinate (III) [51276-47-2], and triclopyr triethylamine salt (IV) [57213-69-1], emulsifiable concs. of sethoxydim (V) [74051-80-2] and fluazifop-butyl (VI) [69806-50-4], and a wettable powder formulation contg. asulam (VII) [3337-71-1] and DCMU (VIII) [330-54-1] were selected. I at 3.2 kg/ha withered subterranean parts of most perennial weeds, but was unable to completely wither Equisetum arvense and Calystegia hederacea. II and III at 2.4 and 1 kg/ha, resp., withered aerial parts of various annual and perennial weeds, but not the subterranean parts, and were useful as alternatives to mowing, although foliar application caused severe injury to citrus trees. IV at 1.2 kg/ha was useful for controlling broad-leaved weeds, but was taken up by citrus trees and caused injury when used under the citrus tree canopy. V and VI were effective toward annual and perennial grasses at 0.3 and 0.7 kg/ha, resp. Suspension of asulam-DCMU mixt. [72780-35-9] at 1.75 and 1.25 kg/ha, resp., was very effective toward both gramineous and broad-leaved weeds, except Cyperaceae weeds. .
- A comparison of some post-emergence herbicides for control of grass weeds
- A comparison of some post-emergence herbicides for control of grass weeds. Rahman, A.; James, T. K.; Mortimer, J. (Ruakura Soil Plant Res. Stn., MAF, Hamilton, N. Z.). Proc. N. Z. Weed Pest Control Conf., 36, 269-72 (English) 1983. CODEN: PZWPAL. ISSN: 0370-2804. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Several new selective postemergence grass weed killers and some nonselective compds. were compared in 4 field trials. Most selective herbicides gave good control of annual warm-zone grasses although some chems. required 8-12 wk for their max. effect at the late treatment stage. Good control of paspalum (Paspalum dilatatum) was also achieved with fluazifop-butyl [69806-50-4], CGA-82725 [72280-52-5], Dowco 453 [69806-40-2] and sethoxydim [74051-80-2], but HOE 35609 3H EE 01 [66441-11-0] provided only 75% control at the highest recommended rate. None of these selective herbicides affected clover (Trifolium) and the majority, esp. Dowco 453 prevented germination and regrowth of ryegrass (Lolium). The 3 nonselective herbicides gave good control of annual grasses and paspalum; glufosinate-ammonium [51276-47-2] allowed very quick regeneration of ryegrass, while preventing regeneration of clover for much longer than SC-0224 [87090-28-6] or glyphosate [1071-83-6].
