The pptd. reaction products were dissolved in NaOH and sepd. by chromatog. on Al2O3 column. 2'-Hydroxymercurifluorescein (I) [88968-27-8] and 4'-hydroxymercurifluorescein (II) [88968-26-7] had higher biol. activity in ischemia models than bis(hydroxymercuri)fluorescein (III) [88968-25-6] and difluoresceinylmercury (IV) [33925-96-1]. The anti-ischemic activity of the I-II-III-IV mixt. (:2:18) was evaluated in humans and lab. animals. The prepn. also had antiarrhythmic activity in humans.
