Farmacia (Bucharest), 26(1), 17-24 (Romanian) 1978. CODEN: FRMBAZ. ISSN: 0014-8237. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) The transfer rate const. of thiamin-HCl (I) [67-03-8] in presence of tween, water-sol. vitamins and auxiliary substances was detd. in oral liq. vitamin prepns. The transfer rate const. of I was decreased in presence of ascorbic acid [50-81-7], Tween 80 [9005-65-6] up to 1%, cysteine-HCl [52-89-1] 0.15, sorbitol [50-70-4] 10, and saccharose [57-50-1] 30%, unchanged in presence of vitamin B6 [8059-24-3], and nipagin [99-76-3] 0.1%, and increased in presence of vitamin B2 [83-88-5] and glucose [50-99-7] 30%. The difference in the exptl. vs. calcd. values are discussed.
- Cysteine supplementation of total parenteral nutrition: the effect in beagle pups
- Cysteine supplementation of total parenteral nutrition: the effect in beagle pups. Malloy, Michael H.; Rassin, David K. (Med. Branch, Univ. Texas, Galveston, TX, USA). Pediatr. Res., 18(8), 747-51 (English) 1984. CODEN: PEREBL. ISSN: 0031-3998. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 18 (Animal Nutrition) Total parenteral nutrition solns. supplemented with cysteine-HCl [52-89-1] (S-TPN, 0.8 mmol/kg/day) were infused into beagle pups from day 10 of life to day 20. Another group of pups received unsupplemented TPN solns. (US-TPN). Fluid, protein, and energy intake from nonprotein sources were similar in both groups. There was significant differences in the rate of wt. gain between the pups that received TPN and pups that were suckled. Wt. gain, hepatic DNA and protein concns., and cerebral DNA and protein concns. in the pups that received TPN supplemented with cysteine were not different from similar measurements in pups that received unsupplemented TPN. Plasma total cyst(e)ine concns. in the cysteine-supplemented pups (7.9 mmol/dL) were significantly greater than in the unsupplemented pups (4.9 mmol/dL). Hepatic glutathione [70-18-8] concns. in the supplemented pups (583 mmol/100 g liver) were also significantly greater than in the unsupplemented pups (392 mmol/100 g liver). Thus, the supplementation of TPN solns. with cysteine, even in an animal enzymically capable of cysteine synthesis, has significant effects on glutathione synthesis.
