- Violet triphenylmethane dyes. Haehnke, Manfred; Papenfuhs, Theodor (Hoechst A.-G., Ger.).Several substances are used for example 5216-25-1 which is its cas registry number. Ger. Offen. DE 2545649 21 Apr 1977, 14 pp. (German). (Germany). CODEN: GWXXBX. CLASS: IC: C09B011-04. APPLICATION: DE 75-2545649 11 Oct 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 40 (Dyes, Fluorescent Whitening Agents, and Photosensitizers) The title dyes are prepd. by condensing 1 mol AlCl3, BF3, or FeCl3 complex of a tris(4-halophenyl)methyl halide with 1-1.5 mol aniline or naphthylamine substituted in the m- or p-position with a halogen, alkyl, alkoxyl, Ph, naphthyl, NO2, CN, sulfonamide, SO3H or CO2H or deriv. at 110-35° in inert solvents, condensing the product with 5-20 mol o-substituted aniline or naphthylamine at 150-90°, and optionally converting the product to a sulfate or sulfonate. Thus, heating (p-ClC6H4)3CCl.AlCl3 (prepd. from 200 g p-ClC6H4CCl3 [5216-25-1] and PhCl [108-90-7]) and 100 g m-MeC6H4NH2 [108-44-1] 3 h at 125-30°, adding 600 g o-MeC6H4NH2 [95-53-4], and heating 4-6 h at 170-5° gives 400 g bis(4-o-toluidinophenyl)(4-m-toluidinophenyl)methyl chloride [66729-32-6], the purity of which is improved by conversion to the sulfate in 50% H2SO4 at 40°. .Some commonly used reagents like 5216-25-1 is used in this experiment..

S. (Inst. Gig. Tr. Profzabol., Moscow, USSR). Gig. Tr. Prof. Zabol., (6), 41-3 (Russian) 1984. CODEN: GTPZAB. ISSN: 0016-9919. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) a,a,a-Trichloro-4-chlorotoluene (I) [5216-25-1] was a moderately toxic compd. (class III material) when administered via the stomach and its LD50s in mice and rats were 700 and 1350 mg/kg, resp. In contrast, I was extremely toxic when inhaled (class I material) and its median lethal concns. in these 2 animals were the same (125 mg/m3). The threshold concn. of I by inhalation was 22.4 mg/m3. It had pronounced cumulative and skin resorption properties. Both chronic and acute toxicol. changes are described. Its recommended max. permissible concn. in the working zone is 0.01 mg/m3.
