DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 64 Chinese and Korean red ginseng powder prepns. were extd. with MeOH and n-BuOH; exts. were analyzed by an established colorimetric method for total saponin content and by an established TLC-scanning densitometric method for contents of 8 individual saponins, i.e., ginsenosides Ro [34367-04-9], Rb1 [41753-43-9], Rb2 [11021-13-9], Rc [11021-14-0], Rd [52705-93-8], Re [52286-59-6], Rg1 [22427-39-0], and Rg2 [52286-74-5]. Total saponin contents of Chinese and Korean red ginseng were similar, i.e., 2.20-2.90% of red ginseng prepns. Some differences in ginsenoside contents between Chinese and Korean red ginseng were detected, e.g., ginsenoside Ro content was higher in Chinese than in Korean red ginseng.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 64 (Pharmaceutical Analysis) Ginsenosides in red ginseng from China, Japan, and Korea were detd. by silica gel H high-performance TLC and light scanning at 520 nm. The silica gel H (particle size 10-40 mm) was supported by polyacrylamide. The developing solvent was CHCl3-MeOH-H2O (:10) or n-BuOH-AcOEt-H2O (4:1:1). For staining of sepd. spots on the TLC plate, the plate was sprayed with 10% H2SO4 and baked at 110° for 7 min. The ginseng samples contained 2.411-5.688% total saponins and ginsenoside Ro [34367-04-9] 1.20-0.276, Rb [41753-43-9], 0.231-0.586, Rb2 [11021-13-9] 0.097-0.311, Rc [11021-14-0] 0.150-0.331, Rd [52705-93-8] 0.082-0.274, Re [52286-59-6] 0.029-0.408, Rg [22427-39-0] 0.240-0.643, and Rg2 [52286-74-5] 0.120-0.Except for chemicals metioned above, 11021-13-9 and 22427-39-0 are also used.271%. .
