Competitive hydroalumination of dialkynyl carbinols TMSCYCCR(OH)CYCTBDPS (TBDPS = tBuPh2Si) by Red-Al and LiAlH4 reagents gave products of addn. from phenylsilane side, (E)-TMSCYCCR(OH)CH:CHTBDPS (R = H, Me) with regioselectivities >91%, whereas H2/Lindlar catalyst redn. gave the product of reversed regioselectivity, (E)-TMSCH:CHCMe(OH)CYCTBDPS. 5272-36-6 is also in the experiment. Red-Al hydroalumination of XCYCCMe(OH)CYCY (7; X, Y = tBu, Ph, TMS, SiiPr3, TBDPS, SiPh3) gave addn. products favoring the phenylsilane side with high regioselectivities, whereas the phenyl-phenylsilyl alcs. 7 undergo non-selective hydroalumination of the both alkynyl moieties. Hydroalumination of tris-alkynyl carbinol (MeCYC)(TMSCYC)(Ph3SiCYC)COH gave the sole product of phenylsilylalkynyl side reaction, (MeCYC)(TMSCYC)[(E)-CH:CHSiPh3]COH. Regioselective carbolithiation of iPr3SiCYCCMe(OH)CYCTBDPS by BuLi gave (E)-iPr3SiCYCCMe(OH)CBu:CHTBDPS. .
