I was a yellow powder, had a m.p. of 170-3°, a sp. rotation of -278°, was sol. in MeOH, EtOH, Me2CO, EtOAc, and CHCl3, but insol. in H2O, C6H14, and petroleum ether. I was effective against Staphylococcus, Microsporum, Trichophyton, and Mycoplasma. LD50 of I against mice was 17.3 mg/kg i.p.
