- Effect of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose on the electrophoretic mobility of the chloramphenicol palmitate particles. Djuric, Zorica; Jovanovic, Milica (Inst. Pharm. Tehnol., Fac. Pharm., Belgrade, Yugoslavia). Arh. Farm., (3-4), 133-7 (Serbo-Croatian) 1984. CODEN: ARFMAC. ISSN: 0004-1963. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) The sp. cond. of a chloramphenicol palmitate [530-43-8] suspension (250 mg/L) was pos. correlated with CM-cellulose (CMC) [9004-32-4] concn. (1-15 g/L) and neg. correlated with pH (4-7) of the suspension. The electrophoretic mobility of the suspended particles was pos. correlated with pH of the suspension; it was a complex function of CMC concn. Storage of the suspension (7 days at 25°) caused only minor changes in its properties. The effects of interaction of drugs with auxilliary substances on stability of the prepns. are discussed.
- Suitability of rigid poly(vinyl chloride) bottles for liquid oral products
- Suitability of rigid poly(vinyl chloride) bottles for liquid oral products. Shah, R. C.; Raman, P. V.; Shah, B. M. (Mac Lab. Ltd., Bombay, India). Pharm. J., 221(5979), 58-9 (English) 1978. CODEN: PHJOAV. ISSN: 0031-6873. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) A chloramphenicol palmitate [530-43-8] suspension in sugar syrup vehicle packed in amber PVC [9002-86-2] bottles curdled and discolored, while the same prepn. packed in amber glass bottles kept well throughout a 2-yr period. A vitamin B complex and a cough syrup showed no change in color, clarity, taste or smell when packed in PVC and glass bottles. The B complex elixir deteriorated over 2 yr 50% with respect to B and 10-20% with respect to other vitamins, but the losses were similar in both bottles. The ease of dispersion, taste, smell and viscosity of a kaolin-pectin compn. compared very well for both types of bottles. Thus, all but the chloroamphenicol prepn. may be stored in PVC bottles for 2 yr.
