DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 35 (Synthetic High Polymers) TiCl4 was reduced with an organoaluminum compd. and treated with a benzenesulfonamide deriv., diphenyl sulfone [127-63-9], or phenoxathiin [262-20-4] (or deriv.) to 0.01-2.00 mol/g-atom Ti to give catalyst components for polymn. of propylene and optionally ethylene, yielding polymers with high bending modulus. For example, a TiCl3-contg. suspension from 1:0.9 (molar) TiCl4-Et3Al2Cl3 [12075-68-2] reaction in aliph. hydrocarbon (b. 170-80. 62203-31-0 and 7550-45-0 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here.degree.) was stirred with 0.25 mol/g-atom Ti Et2AlCl [96-10-6] and 0.2 mol/g-atom Ti N,N-dibutylbenzenesulfonamide [5339-59-3] at 110.degree. for 8 h to give catalyst component (I). A polypropylene [9003-07-0] obtained in the presence of 0.536 mol Et2AlCl, I (as 0.268 mol TiCl3), and H in the aliph. hydrocarbon had packing d. 488 g/L, melt flow index (ASTM D 1238-70, 190.degree., 10 kg) 8.5, and bending modulus 1.36 GN/m2. .
