CODEN: FRMTAL. ISSN: 0367-3014. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) The surfactants (0.5-5%) Tween 80 [9005-65-6], OP-7 [11100-29-1], OP-10 [9041-29-6], glycyrrhizic acid ammonium salt [53956-04-0], and ammonium salts of triterpenoid saponins of Glycyrrhiza were used to solubilize the antineoplastic compds. asaley [3577-89-7] and astiron [1620-24-2]. To 0.1 g prepn. 1 mL of alc. [64-17-5] or dimexide [67-68-5] was added and mixed with predetd. quantity of surfactant, dild. with H2O, mixed for 1 day on a shaker, and the quantity of solubilized drug was detd. gravimetrically. The highest solubilization for both the drugs was assocd. with 5% aq. Tween 80, followed by OT-10. Use of binary or complex surfactant mixts. increased the soly. of the drugs. However, the abs. soly. increase was insignificant. Dimexide and alc., in place of water, did not have any significant effect on soly. Addn. of NaCl to a OP-7 soln. markedly increased the soly. of both the drugs.

- Resuspendibility of suspensions of sulfadimezine, sulfamonomethoxine and salazodimethoxine. Ezerskii, M. L.; Tentsova, A. I.; Per'kova, N. N. (NII Biol. Ispit. Khim. Soedin., USSR). Farmatsiya (Moscow), 32(6), 28-32 (Russian) 1983. CODEN: FRMTAL. ISSN: 0367-3014. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) The resuspendibility (RS) of all the 3 sulfonamide suspensions, i.e., sulfadimezine (I) [57-68-1], sulfamonomethoxine (II) [1220-83-3] and salazodimethoxine (III) [40016-88-4] decreased on storage. The RS of I and III was better than that of II. The RS decreased with increasing amt. of the solid phase. The additives (thickening agents and surfactants) could be divided into different classes depending on their effect on RS. These additives behaved differently with the type of sulfonamide. For example, Me cellulose [9004-67-5], CM-Cellulose [9004-32-4] and poly(vinylpyrrolidone) [9003-39-8] had no effect on the RS of I. Tween 80 [9005-65-6] and poly(vinyl alc.) [9002-89-5] decreased the RS. With increasing concn. of the 2nd class of additives the RS of I worsened. The 3rd class of the additives, which improved the RS of I, included Na lauryl sulfate [151-21-3] and glycyram [53956-04-0]. Suspensions of I and III contg. 0.1% glycyram are recommended for industrial prepn. and II suspensions contg. the same additive concn. may be prepd. extemporaneously.
