For example, 3-aminophenylacetylene [54060-30-9] was coupled with b-bromostyrene [103-64-0] in the presence of a Cu-Pd catalyst to give (E)-1-phenyl-4-(3-aminophenyl)-buta-1-ene-3-yne [89550-56-1] which was used to cap II. Thus, 1,3-bis(3-aminophenoxy)benzene [10526-07-5] was treated with various excess amts. of 2,2-bis(3,4-dicarboxyphenyl)hexafluoropropane dianhydride [1107-00-2] in m-cresol contg. toluene and isoquinoline. The resulting anhydride-terminated amic acid oligomers were thermally imidized and then allowed to react with 3-aminophenylethyne [54060-30-9], 1-phenyl-4-(3-aminophenyl)-1-buten-3-yne [90683-97-9], 1-phenyl-4-(3-aminophenyl)-1,3-butadiyne [82690-38-8], 2-aminobiphenylene [55716-75-1], or 1-phenyl-2-(3-aminophenyl)ethyne [51624-44-3]. Thermal imidization of these intermediates produced the corresponding end-capped polyimide oligomers. The white oligomers were sol. in org. solvents, such as diglyme, and had glass transition temp. (Tg) 95-145°. The Tg of an ethynyl-terminated oligomer was reduced from 105 to 62° upon the incorporation of 20% reactive plasticizer bis[2-(3-ethynylphenoxy)ethyl] ether [90683-99-1]. The oligomers underwent exothermic polymns. at 225-420°. Their TGA thermograms showed 5% wt. There are some commonly used reagents like 10526-07-5 in this article. losses near 530° in air. .
