Aerosil 175, ND-8, and 2,4-dichlorobenzene peroxide. The gaseous emissions were analyzed by gas chromatog. The gaseous components were in concns. below the max. admissible concns. (MAC).

Soedin., Moscow, USSR). Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR, 234(6), 1326-8 [Chem.] (Russian) 1977. CODEN: DANKAS. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Synthetic High Polymers) Polymn. in the solid state of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane (I) [541-05-9] was exothermal, and that of trans-trimethyltriphenylcyclotrisiloxane (II) [6138-53-0] and cis-trimethyltriphenylcyclotrisiloxane (III) [3424-57-5] was endothermal. The rates of polymn. (k) of I-III were nearly independent of temp. at values of the latter relatively far below the m.p. On approaching the m.p. the k rapidly increased, passed through a max. at the m.p., and then decreased to values typical for polymn. in melt. Comparison of the heat capacities of I-III with k in the m.p. range of temps. indicated that premelting (increased mol. mobility at the stage retaining mol. ordering) or polymorphic transitions do not explain the acceleration in k. Heat of polymn. in the solid state was detd. directly and was calcd. from the difference between heat of fusion and heat of polymn. in melt; both sets of results were in good agreement.
